1Before you begin
You'll need Streamlabs Desktop and your personal overlay URL from Channel Setup → Browser source URL in your VoiceTips dashboard. Copy it before you start.
Keep your overlay URL private — it renders directly onto your live canvas.
2Add the Browser Source
- In the Sources panel, click + and select Browser Source.
- Choose Add a new source instead, name it VoiceTips Overlay, then click Add Source.
- Paste your overlay URL into the URL field.
- Set Width and Height to your canvas size, for example 1920 × 1080. The page is transparent wherever no card is showing, and the card goes where Overlay & Alerts → Card position puts it.
- Tick Control audio via Streamlabs Desktop, so the clip's audio reaches your stream through the Mixer.
- Leave Shutdown source when not visible and Refresh browser when scene becomes active off, so the overlay stays connected between scenes. (Clips approved while it is off are not lost; they play when it reconnects.)
- In your VoiceTips dashboard's Channel Setup, check the badge says Overlay connected, then click Send test clip. A sample card appears and three rising notes play.

3Layering with alerts
Drag the VoiceTips Overlay above your camera and game capture, but below any full-screen alert box you want to take priority. Sources higher in the list render on top.
Running an Alert Box widget too? Put VoiceTips just beneath it so donation alerts never get covered by a clip card.
4Audio & monitoring
Confirm the overlay appears in the Mixer and isn't muted. Use the gear icon → Advanced Audio Settings to set monitoring if you want to hear clips locally as they air.
5Troubleshooting
- Nothing plays. Check the badge at the top of your Moderation Queue: No overlay connected means the URL isn't loading (copy it again), Overlay paused means click Resume. Clips play one at a time, in the order they were approved.
- A clip says the overlay could not play it. It did not air and is not counted as played. Fix the cause the card names, then click Try again.
- Clip is silent. Unmute the overlay channel in the Mixer, check monitoring, and send a test clip.
- Overlay frozen. Click ↻ Re-sync with OBS in your dashboard's Overlay & Alerts panel, or right-click the source → Refresh.
